Mike Easter R.I.P. 1947 – 2022

Sad news this week as two of my favorite people have died. The first was my old mate Mike Easter. He used to own a music shop in Great Yarmouth and I had the pleasure of carrying out any repairs that he had either in his own stock or from customers who would take their stuff to be repaired to his shop. He was a great bloke and had a funny side of course. In recent years, I only contacted him via Facebook but still have great memories of working with him and everyone at Soundgear Music. He also happened to be a half decent keyboard player and I shared the stage with him a couple of times. The other loss was actually my favorite guitarist and although I never played with him or even knew him, I watched him play many times with Dr. Feelgood, Supporting Ian Dury and the Blockheads with Solid Senders and later as a 3 piece band featuring none other than one of my favorite bass players, Norman Watt Roy.

I am of course talking about the legendary Wilko Johnson. I know that many of you have absolutely no idea who he was but his death has been a big blow to the music industry in my opinion. I would personally rate him as the best guitarist that I have ever heard. He could make a guitar sound like more than one person was playing it and had a unique style that was hard to beat.

And here he was in 2011 on the Jools Holland show with the great Norman Watt-Roy and Dylan Howe on Drums

Look Out Here it Comes

Anyway back to the reason for this post. I decided to change the description of this blog/website as the original was, firstly, just too long for SEO purposes and secondly, I thought that I should issue a warning to the unsuspecting individuals who are easily offended by my rantings and occasional ‘naughty’ words which I tend to use. If some of you are shocked or surprised by some of my posts then I have done my job as intended. If you are disgusted or offended then you should not be reading this far and it must be time for you to just fuck off and die or do whatever it is that rocks your boat. Anyone who is offended by just words which they have probably used themselves or at least heard, deserves all they get as far as I’m concerned. If you think that rude language isn’t good for business or creates a bad impression, then you are probably right but I really don’t care. It is 2022 and we should all have got over it by now. The same goes for wearing ‘fancy dress’ to attend weddings, funerals, job interviews etc. It’s all just a lie and I think it’s always far better to be honest and just be yourself without pretending to be someone else. A good example of that can be seen by my own profile picture. It was one that I had taken for a visa application when I lived in Thailand. The Kodak shop where I had the photo taken actually used some photo editing software and dressed me up in a bloody suit. In reality I was just wearing a white tee-shirt but the assistant insisted that the photo should look appropriate. In any case although the practice is highly illegal, even in Thailand, my visa application was easily accepted with no need to bribe the immigration officer.

Original Description

Anyway the original description was just too boring and read “Latest News From Ringmania and other sites by Malcolm Scott. Read the up to date info here.” or “This is the blog of Malcolm Scott, owner and creator of Ringmania. A great online ring store trading since 1999” If anyone searches on Google or any other search engine now, they will see “WARNING! This blog contains sarcasm and rude words. If you are offended by this, then look elsewhere. Read the up to date info here.” I think that it’s much better and describes this blog more accurately. Let me know your opinion in the comments below.
