The meaning of “One Off The Wrist”

I first heard the term “One Off The Wrist” used to describe an awkward customer. That was when I worked in a small electrical repair shop in the 1980s in Great Yarmouth. The owner of that shop was always joking with friends and customers and had a great sense of humour. I was certainly impressed with his philosophy and still use some of his old sayings myself. It was probably working there that fed my rebellious personality.

It’s Important to be Nice and also Nice to be Important!

I’m not denying that it’s important to be nice but as an old friend used to say that it’s also nice to be important. I believe that both require honesty. My honesty has got me into trouble in the past and have been thrown out of a few places, even Facebook groups. Probably because many people cannot handle the truth. Perhaps they’ve become so used to being lied to that they are no longer happy if somebody is honest with them.

Pour Yourself a Drink and Let’s Get Down to Business

It is for the reasons above that I have decided to stop slagging other companies off and concentrate more on building my own (Honestly of course). One of my current goals is to at least double my income by this time next year. In order to achieve that, I realise that it means spending more time in building my business and less wasting time with people who do not seem to care. It also means that I will have to be more serious, especially with my blog posts. At the end of the day, it’s all about money and I will be totally honest about that. The only reason that people lie when they are trying to sell something is so they can earn their commission and feather their own nest. If you are told it is for your benefit, please remember that is complete bullshit too. Perhaps it is beneficial to you, but any transaction will have to benefit both parties for it to work.

Affiliate Marketing

In my game of selling jewellery and watches, I will earn a commission of 3-10% on each sale. It doesn’t sound much I know but on sales of 1000GBP I will earn at least 30 quid and it all adds up. The customer does not pay this extra money, it comes from the seller who is happy to pay for the custom. When you consider that their profit margin is at least double the item cost, 3% is a small investment on a sale. Don’t forget that I was once a market trader and it was not unusual to sell items at sometimes more than 5 times the cost. I’m not claiming that it happens so much now but many vendors still have a high profit margin just to survive in business. Rent and salaries have to be paid, normally on demand, and it cannot be easy in the current financial climate. Perhaps that’s why many firms find it neccessary to lie and to cheat their customers. I believe it is always better to be honest and sleep well on an expensive pillow.

The Last Post?

This post maybe the last of it’s kind as on Thursday this week I will begin on the Restart Program that I mentioned previously. For me it will be like a fresh start and the beginning of achieving my goals. Nothing has changed much since I resettled in England and I only have myself to blame.

Back to the Future Once More

My son often tells me that my products are old fashioned and I should sell stuff that is more up to date and I believe him. For once I will take the advice of someone else even though he is only 9 years old. I have decided to advertise the latest Smartwatches alongside the more traditional stuff in order to update my inventory. After all we are almost a quarter way through the 21st Century and everything has changed since the jolly old 1970s.

And Don’t Forget

If you are thinking of starting in affiliate marketing or anything else, don’t be One Off The Wrist, I would be happy to help in any way that I can. Don’t forget that I can also build you a website for free if you need one for any reason. Simply contact me at Talanda or leave a comment on this blog post below and I will get back to you probably sooner than you think.
